GMSV Heavy Duty Help for the VFRS: Big Trucks, Bigger Hearts at Shacks GMSV
Western Australia has faced a fire season that has pushed communities and emergency services to their limits. Across 2024–25, our state saw 5,191 bushfires, burning through more than 754,366 hectares of land. With 60 per cent of these fires occurring between November and April, we’re still deep in the danger zone — and the need for strong community support has never been clearer.
Here in Rockingham and Fremantle, the Warnbro fires hit close to home. Many of our Shacks GMSV team members, customers, and their families were directly affected. Their experiences have only strengthened our respect for the Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services who protect our communities with courage, grit, and unwavering commitment.
A Fire Season That Shows the True Scale of the Challenge
November 2025 alone saw 189 fires across the metropolitan area.
Among them A blaze at Wireless Hill in Ardross, burning more than 10 hectares and requiring 27 fire trucks and aerial support followed by a significant fire in Aubin Grove, burning 20 hectares and threatening nearby homes — the first major urban‑area fire of the season
At WA’s summer fire response announcement, Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Darren Klemm summed up the reality:
“Some 93 per cent of WA is bushfire prone and every year we have approximately 4000 bushfires.”
This is the environment our volunteers step into — day after day, season after season.
Shacks GMSV Is Stepping Up: The Shacks Spark Initiative
In recognition of their service, Shacks GMSV — together with the Shacks Motor Group — is proud to support the Shacks Spark Initiative, a group‑wide commitment to giving back to the volunteers who protect us.
From February 1 to April 30, $50 from every new vehicle sold across our group will be donated directly to the Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services of WA.
Our goal is to raise $12,000 over the three‑month period.
It’s our way of putting heavy‑duty heart behind the people who show up when our community needs them most.
A Century of Service, A Commitment That Runs Deep
The Shacks Motor Group has proudly served Western Australians for over 100 years, and Rockingham and Fremantle since 1972. Community support has always been part of our DNA — and backing the VFRS is a natural extension of that legacy.
At Shacks GMSV, we know that real strength isn’t just about the trucks we sell.
It’s about the people we stand with.
Join Us in Powering the VFRS
Every new GMSV purchased during this period contributes directly to the volunteers
who protect our homes, our families, and our future. Even if you’re not in the market for a vehicle, helping us spread the word strengthens the impact.
